Operating classroom podium equipment

When are rooms/podiums unlocked?
Podiums are unlocked as follows, please note WeekDAY vs WeekEND procedures.

  • Weekdays only, the room/podium will be unlock by CETS in rooms with a reservation as long as the reservation was confirmed at least 36 hours prior to event start.
    • If the room confirmation was received less than 36 hours prior to event start it will be necessary to contact CETS directly to ensure the room/podium is unlocked. Please include date, time and room number.
  • Weekend use, please add “Access to Podium equipment (Weekend Use)” to your room reservation when needed so CETS will know to leave the podium available for your reservation.
    • CETS does not have weekend hours. If you are unsure how to operate the equipment for your weekend event please contact CETS for a brief training session prior to your event.

Why is the display screen blank even though my laptop is connected to the projector/monitor?

  • Older laptops don’t always auto-detect new displays once they are connected. You may have to cycle through your display options on the laptop. Locate your display options on the laptop and select dual monitor option and make sure it is “mirrored or duplicate” and not “extend desktop”.  Contact CETS at 817-735-2481 if you still not seeing the image on the screen/monitor.

How do I get the projector/display monitor(s) turned on?

  • Most CETS managed rooms will have a touch screen on or near the podium which is used to control the room system. Touch the face of the screen to wake it. Typically the first thing to do is select your source (laptop, podium PC, document camera [where available], etc). There are instructions posted in many of the rooms. If you need assistance, please call CETS at 817-735-2481.
  • CETS provides “Podium” training. If you know in advance you will be in a room you are unfamiliar with please schedule a training session with CETS by emailing us at cets@unthsc.edu. Training sessions are generally brief, 30 minutes on average.
