Default Page Template Layout Options

The Default Template for web pages allows for the standard site header and navigation above and the footer found on all pages. The default WordPress content management area is available with the default template. This allows for all the basic content (images, text, buttons, forms, embedded video) to be included before the panels, or not.

The widest content on a page using the Default Template will be 1170px. The primary content area expands to that width even on wider screens. When creating a page with or without panels and no matter what template you select, always consider what it will look like on phone size, medium, and wide format screens.

The layout panels available with the “Default template” include:

  • Basic Content Columns
  • Accordion Section
  • Basic Content
  • Explore Section
  • Callout Row with Thumbnails

Column One

This is Column One’s content area. If you want all the columns to be the same height, you’ll need to do some calculations or comparisons of the copy and image heights used in each column.

It is possible to include images, centered or left/right justified.

This panel allows for headings above each column, but no heading above the section or all columns. You might want to include a Basic Content panel above this panel if you want it to have a heading.

Column Two

It is possible to just create 3 columns of images or images of buttons that send the user where you need them to go.

Accordion Section

The content area for an accordion can contain just about all basic types of content; text, links, images, embedded video, callout buttons.

Accordions could also be added to any basic content management area by using the “Add Post Element” button and selecting an accordion. Those accordions can be different branded colors.

Basic Content

The Basic Content panel is very similar to WordPress’ default, basic content management area that appears at the top of the dashboard view of any page being edited. It allows for a wide are where you can provide any images, copy, forms, Post Elements, embedded videos.

Explore Section

There is a basic content area that is available above the visuals of the Explore Section. This section is intended to present four items. It will not align with fewer than four items. It is best to select vertically oriented images with the subject matter focused in the middle. The image items could take images of any dimension, but they will present a version with an even amount cropped from each side.

Spacing

I’m adding a Basic Content panel here to input some spacing between the Explore Section example and the next Callout Row with Thumbnails example.
