
Andy North, FACHE
Bio
Andy North is an award-winning, bilingual digital media, marketing and business development strategist with more than 20 years of health care experience. He has served as the vice president of HSC Marketing and Communications since December 2023. At HSC, Andy leads all marketing and communications efforts, serves as a member of the President’s Cabinet, and acts as the chief information officer and spokesperson. Notable accomplishments under his leadership include redesigning the department structure, implementing a strategic marketing planning process, introducing a semi-annual marketing summit and achieving nearly 10 million annual website page views.
Andy’s prior roles include vice president of marketing and communications at DCH Health System, director of marketing and communications at St. Dominic Hospital and regional director of public policy and external affairs for Catholic Healthcare West. He holds an MBA from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Brigham Young University. Andy is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and has been active on various professional boards. He resides in Fort Worth with his wife, Meghan, and their four children.

Paula Cobler
Bio
Paula Cobler is the associate vice president of HSC Marketing and Communications, where she works with the vice president of marketing and communications to lead the department in charge of the university’s strategic brand and recruitment marketing campaigns, creative design, videography, internal and external communications, and web and digital media services. She was hired at HSC in November 2021, initially as the senior director of Marketing and Communications, after working in a similar role for 14 years at the University of Houston-Victoria.
Paula previously served as the general manager and president of the Student Media Corp., a nonprofit news organization that publishes The Mirror, the University of Northern Colorado’s student-led newspaper. She also has taught journalism courses at UNC and Colorado State University and worked for nearly a decade as a newspaper reporter, marketer and editor in Colorado and Texas. Paula grew up in Fort Collins, Colorado, and earned her bachelor’s degree in technical journalism from CSU. She also holds a Master of Science in publishing from UHV. Paula and her husband, Chris, have two grown children who are both working journalists.

Lisa Pule
Bio
Lisa Pule is the executive assistant for HSC Marketing and Communications. She provides invaluable support to the vice president, as well as the rest of the department. She joined the HSC team in February 2024, after working since 2018 at the University of North Texas. With extensive experience in office administration since age 16, Lisa brings a wealth of organizational and coordination skills to her role at HSC.
Outside of work, Lisa has a variety of interests, including a passion for coffee, music and decorating. She’s also an avid sports fan, cheering on the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers, no matter the outcome. Lisa enjoys balancing her professional life with these personal interests, which contribute to her vibrant and well-rounded approach to work and life.

Michael Brown
Bio
Michael Brown is the senior director of digital outreach and web at HSC, where he has worked since May 2015. In his role, Michael combines customer service with leadership, supporting teams across campus and within Marketing and Communications while ensuring that his team remains focused on leadership’s priorities.
Before his current role, Michael worked as a web developer at HSC and as lead web developer at Dalworth Restoration, gaining valuable experience in web development. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas Wesleyan University, with an emphasis on business, political science and liberal arts. Michael’s diverse background allows him to approach digital outreach with a well-rounded perspective, combining technical expertise with strong leadership and communication skills.

Quincy Burse
Bio
Quincy is the web interface designer for HSC Marketing and Communications, where he has been an integral part of the team since 2021. In his role, he focuses on creating user friendly and visually appealing web interfaces that enhance the online experience for HSC’s audience. Additionally, he is an elected member of the HSC Staff Senate, contributing to staff representation and advocacy within the organization.
Before joining HSC, Quincy worked as a campaign manager at Thryv and as a webmaster at the University of Texas at Arlington. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Technology at UTA. This provided him with the skills necessary to excel in web design and digital communication. Outside of work, Quincy is an avid sneaker collector, reflecting his passion for both style and detail.

Jacob Martella
Bio
Jacob Martella is a web developer at HSC, where he has worked since November 2019. In his role, Jacob focuses on creating and implementing new features and enhancements to improve the functionality of HSC’s website. He ensures the site is accessible, performs well and resolves any issues that arise. Additionally, Jacob assists content editors with any challenges they encounter on the website, providing ongoing support to keep everything running smoothly.
Before joining HSC, Jacob worked as a freelance web developer for Faith Growth Inc. He holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Texas at Austin. Outside of his work, Jacob is passionate about photography, particularly landscape photography, and is a dedicated sports fan. He cheers for the Dallas Stars, Texas Rangers and Philadelphia Eagles.

Wade Phelps
Bio
Wade Phelps has worked in HSC Marketing and Communications since 2022. He started work as a contractor as the paid ads manager, then moved to a full-time position as the digital media marketing manager. Wade’s responsibilities have expanded to encompass AI-driven digital marketing, SEO, PPC, content strategy and data analytics. His expertise lies in leveraging advanced marketing technologies to enhance audience engagement and drive online visibility. He is committed to rigorously testing new strategies to ensure they align with HSC’s goals and maximize digital growth.
Wade holds a degree in art with a specialization in music theory from the University of Colorado, but his career has centered on digital marketing, where he has accumulated more than 15,000 hours of continuous education in online growth, AI-driven marketing and data analytics. Before joining HSC, Wade spent 27 years in online marketing, working with major corporations in New York City. His decision to join HSC was motivated by a personal desire to honor his late wife of 21 years, who received exceptional care from health professionals. Wade is passionate about contributing to the development and training of future health care leaders, ensuring they have the resources to make a meaningful impact in their fields.

Alexis Short
Bio
Alexis Short is the Salesforce Marketing Cloud campaign manager at HSC. She has worked at HSC since 2016 in various roles. Prior to joining Marketing and Communications, she served as both the digital strategist and communications manager for the National Research Mentoring Network at the university. She has a degree in emerging media and communication from the University of Texas at Dallas and has her CITI Human Research & Human Subject Research and Tableau Certified Data Analyst certifications.
Alexis is a data–driven individual who wants to make an impact on her work by creating innovative and impactful content. She also is a glitch media artist – finding the beauty in breaking and reconstructing things in digital media.

Shannon Sutlief
Bio
Shannon Sutlief has been the web content manager at HSC since October 2024. In her role, Shannon is responsible for writing and editing content related to degrees, programs and other university initiatives, all while ensuring SEO optimization, adherence to Associated Press style and consistency with HSC’s brand standards. She also contributes to the web content strategy, focusing on site accessibility, navigation and other critical elements that enhance user experience.
Before joining HSC, Shannon spent 16 years at The Dallas Morning News, where she worked as a writer, editor and product manager. She also held positions as a database editor at Pegasus News and as the Night & Day editor, music writer and critic at the Dallas Observer. Her writing has appeared in various publications, including Fort Worth Weekly, the Denton Record-Chronicle and Cowboys & Indians Magazine. Shannon earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of North Texas and has had a lifelong passion for writing, with her first published piece appearing in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram when she was in elementary school.

Kai-Lea Wu
Bio
Kai-Lea Wu is a senior web app developer at HSC, where she has been an integral part of the Marketing and Communications team since 2014. She holds a master’s degree in computer science from the University of North Texas, where she also worked as a teaching assistant. With a strong foundation in web development and a passion for technology, Kai-Lea has been dedicated to maintaining and enhancing the HSC website, developing custom web applications, and creating web services that improve functionality and user experience.
At HSC, Kai-Lea focuses on optimizing site performance, ensuring accessibility and integrating innovative solutions to support the institution’s digital initiatives. Her commitment to advancing the institution’s online presence has made her a key player in its digital transformation.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time in nature, hiking and camping, activities that help her recharge and find inspiration for both her personal and professional life.

Libby Maness
Bio
Libby Maness is the associate director of communications at HSC, where she has worked since November 2021. In her role, she leads the communications team to ensure that all efforts align with the university’s mission and the department’s strategic marketing and communications plans. Libby’s team is responsible for overseeing social media planning, campuswide communications and public relations. Additionally, she manages the HSC Newsroom, coordinates reporting for all communications initiatives, and provides support for campus events as needed.
Before joining HSC, Libby worked as the production and social media manager at Teleos Marketing and as a social media coordinator at Cook Children’s Medical Center. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Strategic Communications from Oklahoma State University and a Master of Arts in Communication from the University of Texas at Arlington. Outside of work, Libby enjoys spending time with her husband and their two Australian shepherds, Oliver and Teddy.

Sarah Camacho
Bio
Sarah Camacho is the senior communications specialist for social media at HSC, where she leads the social media strategy. Since Sarah started at HSC in April 2024, she hit the ground running, ensuring the university’s content is aligning with institutional goals while engaging audiences across various platforms. She creates and curates content, including graphics, videos, stories and campaigns, to showcase HSC’s impact on health care, education and research. Sarah also manages social media analytics, tracks performance and collaborates with departments across the university to drive meaningful digital engagement.
Before joining HSC, Sarah held various roles such as marketing account manager at Raze Media, digital content creator at Texas State University and digital + social media intern at the San Antonio Current. With a Bachelor of Science in Education from Texas State University, Sarah found her passion for digital storytelling and higher education through her freelance work and her time at her alma mater. Her background in education allows her to combine her love for strategic digital media and fostering student success, fueling her enthusiasm for the creative and impactful world of social media in higher education.

Nicole Luna
Bio
Nicole Luna is the senior communications specialist for public relations at HSC. She manages and disseminates information to various members of the media and plays a key role in promoting HSC’s achievements and advancing the mission of HSC. Nicole is a skilled communicator with a background in journalism and marketing. Before joining HSC, she worked as a marketing and communications coordinator at Collin College and spent more than five years as a newspaper reporter, honing her storytelling and media relations expertise.
Nicole has been part of HSC since July 2024. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in journalism and Spanish from the University of Texas at Arlington. Outside of work, Nicole is always on the move—whether she’s hunting for the perfect cup of coffee, exploring new hiking trails, getting lost in a good book, brainstorming stories with her creative writing group or hitting the gym. She never passes up an opportunity to spend quality time with family and friends.

Cindy Vasquez
Bio
Cindy Vasquez has been the senior communications specialist for internal communications at HSC since April 2024. In her role, Cindy oversees essential internal communications tools such as Daily News, the campus calendar and HSC Connect. With a background spanning corporate and nonprofit strategic communications, Cindy brings expertise from sectors such as health care and pharmaceuticals. She also spent more than seven years with the City of Fort Worth, where she honed her skills in digital content management, project management, writing and editing, media relations and design.
Cindy holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Texas Christian University and a Master of Arts in Communication from the University of Texas at Arlington. A lifelong Fort Worth resident, she takes pride in contributing to her community through various networking groups and volunteer experiences.

Alexandria Ortiz
Bio
Alexandria Ortiz is the associate director of marketing at HSC, where she plays a pivotal role in shaping and communicating the HSC brand story. With a focus on both internal and external marketing efforts, she leads the development and execution of promotional campaigns that align with HSC’s vision. Alexandria works closely with various departments, ensuring their marketing objectives are integrated into a cohesive, unified message.
Before joining HSC, Alexandria gained valuable experience as a web marketing manager and marketing consultant. She brings a wealth of expertise to the team, underpinned by her education at Texas Christian University. Outside of work, Alexandria enjoys playing tennis and is a proud graduate of Leadership Fort Worth’s LeadingEdge program.

Guillermo Gomez
Bio
Guillermo Gomez has been a graphic designer at HSC since 2019. In this role, he creates engaging visual graphics that reinforce HSC’s brand and help advance its presence in the community. Guillermo works closely with other members of the creative and marketing teams to promote the university’s brand across various mediums, ensuring that all designs align with HSC’s vision and identity.
Prior to joining HSC, Guillermo worked at American Airlines from 2011 to 2017. He served as senior graphic designer and art director for the Spanish on-board magazine in the publishing department and later as a senior graphic designer in the marketing department. From 2017 to 2019, Guillermo worked as a freelance graphic designer. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Communications and Marketing from the University of Texas at Arlington and an Associate Degree in Graphic Design and Visual Arts from Tarrant County College. Outside of work, Guillermo enjoys spending time with family and friends.

Erin Smith
Bio
Erin Smith is a graphic designer at HSC, where she has worked since July 2023. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Graphic Design from Illinois State University. Previously, Erin worked as a graphic designer at Wilber – an auto insurance subrogation company that works with more than 300 insurance agencies like State Farm and All State. At HSC, she is responsible for graphic designing, including creating visuals and adjusting text to ensure its optimum appeal. When she is not at work you can find her spending time with her Pitbull mix, Kehlani, Lani for short.

Rachel Vandeusen
Bio
Rachel Van Duesen is a graphic designer at HSC, where she has worked since September 2024. In this role, she brings her expertise in visual design to support the marketing and communications efforts of the university. Prior to joining HSC, Rachel worked as a freelance art director for The Marketing Arm in Dallas and as a digital designer for Michaels in Irving, gaining valuable experience in both the creative and digital design fields.
Rachel holds a Bachelor of Arts in Advertising from the University of North Texas. Outside of her professional life, she has a variety of passions, including a love for dogs and an enthusiasm for running. Additionally, Rachel enjoys drawing and dancing on the weekends.

Noah Whitmore
Bio
Noah Whitmore has been a videographer for HSC Marketing and Communications since 2022. He has been with HSC for seven years total, working in various positions, including maintenance technician and receiving clerk, before transitioning into his current role. Prior to coming to HSC, Noah held roles at Amazon as a receiving clerk and at G-Force Cycles as a motorcycle mechanic.
In his current position, Noah creates high-quality, engaging content for HSC colleges and departments with a primary focus on driving student enrollment and securing additional funding. Outside of work, Noah enjoys spending time with his dog and cat (which he considers the best animals in the world) and is married to an amazing nurse. In his free time, he loves working on and filming cars and motorcycles, blending his passion for mechanics and videography.
