Sponsored Programs Accounting Team

The Sponsored Programs Accounting team is comprised of two Senior Grant Financial Analysts and two Grant Accountants.

Our team is primarily responsible for requesting reimbursements back to the institution for externally funded sponsored research projects.

Types of funding we manage include federal, private, state and local grants and contracts.  We manage drawing down funds from sponsor portals, preparing and submitting invoices through our new electronic billing module as well as financial reporting based on sponsor specific templates as required.  We work in tandem with our colleagues in OSP along with the Principal Investigators and their respective departmental administrative support to reconcile and close sponsored research projects.

In order from top to bottom: Su Cole, Huibi Wang, Thanh Truc (T.T.) Truong, Victoria Gregg, Jarrett Cocharo

Where did you grow up? Spring, Texas (North of Houston or as other Houstonians called it, South Dallas.)

Tell us about your best childhood memory. Growing up in a small family owned grocery store allowed me and my siblings time to be with my parents on the weekends and taught me how to deal with customers, count out change and rotate stock, first in, first out.  No matter what time it was, we always ate dinner together as a family once my parents came home from the store.

What do you do for fun?  I love being creative and making things with my hands by either taking classes where I can learn a new craft or have a craft day for myself.  My husband and I enjoy exploring different areas of North Texas and its surrounding towns and walking around parks when the weather is nice.

When did you join UNTHSC?I originally joined UNTHSC in February 2011 through July 2014 and returned to UNTHSC in May 2016.

What do you do for the Research Division? I have had the opportunity to have three different roles within the Office of Sponsored Programs, initially as a Senior Post Award Analyst and Grant and Contract Manager in Post Award and have transitioned to Associate Director managing the Sponsored Programs Accounting team in OSP.

What is your favorite thing about working at UNTHSC?  Having had experience in both Research Administration and in the Corporate Accounting worlds, I have seen corporate America benefit the hands of a few versus the Research Community, benefitting the hands of many, and much prefer the latter.
