Dr. Chassay comes to us from the McGovern Medical School at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston.  He most recently served as Associate Dean for Alumni Relations & Continuing Medical Education and Assistant Dean for Admissions & Student Affairs. He also founded the school’s primary care sports medicine fellowship and served as its Program Director.

He served as the Deputy Executive Commissioner of the Office of Health Policy and Clinical Services at the Texas Health and Human Services Commission from 2012-2014. He also worked at The University of Texas at Austin Intercollegiate Athletics for 18 years, including six seasons as Head Team Physician. Additionally, Chassay has volunteered for the United States Olympic Committee and has worked five international multi-sport events serving as Chief Medical Officer three times, with the latest being the 2012 Paralympics in London.

Dr. Chassay earned a Doctor of Medicine degree from the McGovern Medical School, and a Healthcare Executive Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Texas at Dallas.

In his new role as SVP of Clinical Affairs & Healthcare Partnerships, Dr. Chassay will be responsible for working collaboratively with all of our Deans to develop an innovative, coordinated clinical education model across all programs.  He will also lead initiatives to expand and enhance relationships with healthcare and hospital systems across Texas.  He will also oversee INCEDO and SaferCare Texas.

While Dr. Chassay will work closely with Dr. Jeff Beeson, our Chief Medical Officer and Executive Medical Director of UNT Health, both areas will continue to report directly to the Office of the Provost.
