Improve the community’s health
Through research and community outreach, our students and faculty are committed to reducing the alarming number of deaths resulting from preventable diseases.
Some of this country’s most costly and most deadly health problems (Type II diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease, for example) are often preventable. These conditions disproportionately affect women, minorities, and low-income individuals and communities. By working not just in but with communities, we are blending the science of prevention with the practice of prevention, utilizing specific local resources and tailoring interventions to fit the at-risk target population.
