Our memories are precious treasures, bringing us joy and connecting us to those we love.

First-of-its-kind research is underway at HSC to detect Alzheimer’s disease earlier and develop new treatments to stop its progression before it is too late.

We need your support to make it happen.

About our Alzheimer’s research

Every 66 seconds someone in the United States develops Alzheimer’s disease. More than 5.5 million Americans are living with dementia caused by the disease. It destroys memories, robbing people of their ability to perform simple, everyday tasks and destroying their quality of life.

It impacts individuals, their families, communities and our health care system.

Alzheimer’s disproportionately affects Hispanic and African Americans populations. To find out why, our research team has launched the only comprehensive, large-scale Alzheimer’s research study into the three largest ethnic groups in the U.S. – Non-Hispanic whites, Mexican Americans and African Americans. And it’s happening right here in Fort Worth.

Over the coming years, we will look at the biological, social, and environmental factors of thousands of study participants to determine which of those factors can lead to Alzheimer’s.

If we are successful, our work will create new ways to diagnose and treat Alzheimer’s disease for all populations.

Help us make memories last forever.
