COVID-19 Admissions Policy Updates
Due to the unprecedented challenges created by the current Covid-19 pandemic the UNTHSC School of Public Health is amending its application requirements for the remainder of the Fall 2020 cycle. Students submitting applications to be considered for Summer 2020 online programs or Fall 2020 online and on-campus programs please note the following.
Exam Requirement Accommodations:
The GRE will be waived for applicants to the MPH and MHA, cohort and online programs. This policy update will not affect prior applicants.
IELTS and TOEFL exams will be waived for applicants to the MPH and MHA cohort programs. This policy update will not affect prior applicants.
Transcript Requirement Accommodations:
Students who are unable to receive official transcripts due to university closures may submit unofficial documents for their application. These students will be considered for conditional admission and will be required to submit official transcripts when their university reopens for normal business. Candidates in this situation will need to upload their unofficial transcripts in the Documents section of their SOPHAS application and notify our staff at sph@UNTHSC.eduof their situation.
WES evaluations remain required for International Applicants. WES services remain active through they may be delayed as they transition to virtual office hours. Candidates are required to receive a course by course evaluation for submission to SOPHAS and UNTHSC. An exception will be made for candidates with a completed Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a US based regionally accredited institution.

Scholarship Offers Extended:
Scholarships are still available for MS, MPH and MHA cohort programs. The deadline for scholarship consideration is extended until May 1st or funding is fully committed. Scholarships are awarded considering candidates academic history, experience in the field and program fit.
Remember GPA alone is not sufficient to receive an admission offer, our programs continue to be highly competitive and considers the whole candidate when reviewing applications.
Application deadlines for upcoming entrances are:
- MPH Online Summer 2020 Start May 1st
- MPH Cohort Fall 2020 Start June 1st
- MHA Cohort Fall 2020 Start June 1st
- MHA Online Fall 2020 Start July 15th
- MPH Online Fall 2020 Start July 15th
