HSC’s community leadership continues with vaccination effort
When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, HSC sprang into action by offering tangible solutions to Tarrant County’s urgent health care needs.
HSC swiftly opened the first COVID-19 testing location in all of Tarrant County for frontline responders. It didn’t stop there — HSC team members also opened several testing and vaccination sites, staffed a COVID-19 information line, performed contact tracing, distributed food to families in need, donated masks, manufactured solutions essential to the COVID-19 testing process and more.
This February, HSC partnered with Tarrant County to open vaccine sites in historically underserved communities, and HSC students hosted dozens of vaccine registration drives. The list goes on and the work continues.
HSC’s COVID-19 vaccine impact by the numbers as of May 12, 2021:
- 4 COVID-19 vaccinations sites in Fort Worth’s Stop Six neighborhood, Saginaw, Ridgmar Mall and at The University of Texas at Arlington.
- 8,347 full vaccinations (two doses) completed.
- 11,032 partial vaccinations (one dose) completed.
- 19,379 total vaccines administered.
As demand for the vaccine declines, HSC continues to find solutions and is shifting its strategy to partner with businesses and organizations to host pop-up vaccine sites across Tarrant County. Anyone can submit a request for free vaccine pop-up site here.
