Young artists exhibit their work in Atrium Gallery this spring

High school juniors and seniors have the chance to show off their artistic skills at the UNT Health Science Center when the annual High School Art Show opens in the Atrium Gallery April 5.
Brock ISD art teacher Sue Brunner has been submitting her students’ work to the art show for years.
“As a seasoned art teacher, I feel it is very important to put your students’ art out there so that they feel that their work is worthy of an audience and for others to enjoy,” Brunner said. “I want my students to be proud of their accomplishments.”
The 34th annual UNTHSC High School Art Show, open to the public during business hours April 5-26, will exhibit the artwork of students from 10 counties in the North Texas area, giving those who enter their work a platform to share their talents.
The Atrium Gallery is on the first floor of the Everett Education and Administration Building at 3500 Camp Bowie Blvd. in Fort Worth. Some of the works will be available for purchase.
“In addition to larger schools, we provide a venue for smaller schools that may not be able to participate in some of the other exhibits and competitions,” said Shea Patterson-Young, Special Events Manager and Curator for the Atrium Gallery. “For a lot of kids, this may be the only show they are featured in. Being located in the Cultural District, supporting local art is an important element of the gallery. I always say the Atrium Gallery is where art meets science.”
An awards ceremony will begin at 2:30 p.m. April 27. First-, second- and third-place winners receive art supplies and a ribbon.
