Our Values of Courageous Integrity, Be Curious, We Care, Better Together, and Show Your Fire define how we work together to reach our goals. They represent the best way for us to fulfill our mission and vision and achieve our strategic goals. Through the power of Our Values we can make a difference in the lives of our people, build meaningful relationships with our partners, and develop our leaders.

OUR VALUES JOURNEY

December 2012 – Dr. Williams Joined HSC as President after leading a hospital from one of the lowest in patient safety and employee retention rankings to a nationally recognized Best Place to Work and a National Baldridge Award Winner.

2014 – HSC set out to deliberately change a culture that was not where it needed to be and to build a positive culture based on values.

2015 – HSC partnered with People Ink and utilized the “Built On Values” process to create a values-based culture where team members thrive.

Our Values Beginning

2015 through 2022 – HSC implemented values-centric programs and increased employee engagement by over 25 percentage points.

August 2022 – New Chancellor’s vision: By 2026 the UNT System is one team, values-driven and customer-focused with an emphasis on excellence, curiosity, and innovation.

October 2022 – Every employee in the UNT System was invited to participate in a values survey and core teams began building on the results.

November 2022 – Over 125 people across all System campuses came together with the surveys and collaborated over two full days to establish new system-wide values and behaviors.

February 2023 – Under President Trent-Adams’ leadership, HSC began the next phase of its values journey, creating better alignment and a more unified culture with the entire UNT System.


Recognize a Teammate

Now that you have seen our NEW values. We wanted to let you know that we will be taking time to really get to know and understand these new values. That means our recognition program is on pause for now and likely to evolve in this next phase of our values journey. What the Office of Culture and Experience wants you to feel confident in is that you have joined a values-based culture that is committed to recognizing and celebrating people who live our values.

In the meantime, we will have Appreciation Cards available soon for you to begin showing appreciation to individuals that you see living Our Values.
