Innovations in HIV/HCV Care – papers published on Health Promotion Practice Journal (HPP)

September 26, 2023 • Publications

Four articles authored by Dr. Wari Allison, the TAKE on HIV Program Director, and several of her team members, Trisha Melhado, Aro Choi and Keito Kawasaki were published in a special collection entitled “Innovations in HIV/HCV Care” in Health Promotion Practice Journal (HPP), a peer-reviewed public health journal from The Society for Public Health Education.

These papers are the result of the Special Project of National Significance, “Curing Hepatitis C among People of Color Living with HIV”, which was funded in 2017 by Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSAgov), HHS Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program. The work represented in these papers concluded in 2022.

Dr. Allison was a co-recipient of this HRSA funding, alongside Dr. Merceditas Villanueva, associate professor of medicine in internal medicine and director of the HIV/AIDS program at the Yale University School of Medicine.

“HCV and HIV exist as a syndemic, and if we are to eliminate HCV and end the HIV epidemic in the U.S., the kind of work presented in this collection of papers is vital,” Allison said.
