Student Health Insurance Overview
All degree-seeking domestic students enrolled at UNT Health are required to participate in the university-sponsored student health insurance plan. Participation is based on a hard waiver policy, which means students are automatically enrolled in the insurance plan unless they provide proof of comparable coverage. Students enrolled exclusively in online courses, expect those enrolled in the College of Biomedical and Translational Sciences – MS Medical Science online courses, are not eligle and will not be enrolled.
Check out the My AHP Care website linked below to explore the student health plan, enroll, opt-out, or access your account. View the Insurance FAQ page for more information.
To view the current premium rates, please visit UNT Health.myahpcare.com/enrollment. From there, click on the Cost Sheets drop down section, then select your program.
The Student Health Insurance Policy includes a basic Dental coverage policy and a vision exam as of the 25-26 school year. The Dental and Vision appointment coverage are new benefits built into the Student Health Insurance Plan through United Healthcare.
Vision
You should be able to go to Find a Doctor or Hospital in the UHC Choice Plus PPO Network and search for an Optometrist.
If you have enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Plan, you should have received an email from AHP regarding the benefits included with AVC Academic Vision Care.
Dental
The Dental Policy is a basic policy through United HealthCare. The maximum payout is $1,000.00 per year. If expecting major dental work, students should get an additional policy.
For UHC Dental-related inquiries, members can call 877-816-3596. It can take up to 4 business days for coverage to show in the dental system. If the student has just been added to the UNT Health system, they will need to allow more time to be loaded in the UHC Dental system. For dental enrollment issues, a Customer Service rep will work with an internal team member to research the issue further – please do not call the clinic for assistance with dental enrollment.
To find an in-network dentist, students can go to uhcsr.com and search for the UNT Health school page. Under “find provider,” select “My UHC Dental.” For any questions, contact Tina Hay, Student Health Coordinator at health@unthealth.edu.
