Department Overview

The Office of Disability Access is responsible for assisting students with disabilities by providing academic accommodations that will ensure equal access to the curriculum. The office retains students’ documentation of their disability(ies) that substantiate a need for accommodations. Staff members also serve as a liaison between students, faculty and staff to determine the appropriateness of approved accommodations. Signature Programs and Services

The Office of Disability Access assists students with disabilities who need accommodations to equally access the curriculum. The ODA team reviews documentation substantiating a need through an interactive process with the student and faculty/program.

The ODA schedules and proctors exams for students and provides testing accommodations. Staff also proctor make-up exams for students with and without approved disability accommodations.

Collaborative Initiative

In collaboration with the Division of Academic Innovation, the ODA developed a robust faculty training course. The modules are available for all faculty and staff to help grow HSC’s awareness of students with disabilities and provide strategies to create more inclusive learning and co-curricular environments.
