UNTHSC School of Public Health welcomes new faculty

The School of Public Health at the University of North Texas Health Science Center (UNTHSC), Fort Worth, welcomes Youcheng Liu, MD, ScD, MPH, as associate professor in the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences and Lakshmi Balasubramanian, PhD, as assistant professor in the Department of Health Management and Policy.

Dr. Liu joins UNTHSC from the University of Kentucky College of Public Health, Lexington, with more than 20 years of teaching and research experience in occupational and environmental health sciences.  He has also taught for Yale University School of Public Health and Yale School of Medicine.

His research and clinical positions have included appointments with Harvard School of Public Health; Massachusetts Department of Public Health; Massachusetts General Hospital; and Beijing Medical University and Nanjing Medical University, China.  He has received research awards from the Michigan Industrial Hygiene Society, American Industrial Hygiene Association, and Ministry of Health, China.

Dr. Liu is the author or co-author of numerous peer-reviewed research articles, editorials/reviews, book chapters, conference abstracts and presentations. He holds a Doctor of Science (ScD) degree from Harvard School of Public Health, his M.D. degree from Nanjing Medical University, Nanjing, China, and his MPH from Beijing Medical University (currently Peking University Health Science Center).

Dr. Balasubramanian most recently taught for the University of Texas Pan-American in the Department of Economics and Finance. Her research interests include health care finance and investments.

Dr. Balasubramanian’s teaching interests include health care finance, portfolio management, investments, corporate finance, managerial finance, financial markets and institutions.

She holds a PhD in business administration, finance emphasis, from the University of Texas Pan-American.
