The Texas Health Institute (THI), a statewide organization improving the health of Texans through health policy and grassroots health solutions, has contracted with the School of Public Health (SPH) at the UNT Health Science Center (UNTHSC) to assist with the evaluation of a new, Web-based service called The Benefit Bank for Texas (TBB-TX), to connect low- and moderate-income families with the public benefits for which they are eligible and can be filed electronically. The THI estimates that this program will return a potential of $60 million in economic impacts to Texas residents and their local communities within just two years.  Managing this three-year, $150,000 contract for the SPH will be Elizabeth Trevino Dawson, DrPH, MPH, assistant dean for Curriculum, with Erin Carlson, PhD, assistant professor, Health Management and Policy.
