Four SPH students selected for Quality Leadership Academy

Four SPH students have been selected to participate in the 4th Annual Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) Open School Student Quality Leadership Academy, sponsored by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundationin Cambridge, Massachusetts, June 13-14.

The four Master of Health Administration (MHA) students –Andrea Bennett, Garrett Boland, Karyssa Bowers and Bhaavika Patel – were selected from among more than 340 applicants.

The Student Quality Leadership Academy is a free, two-day program for students and residents designed to build leadership competencies within all health professions, led by Donald M. Berwick, President Emeritus and Senior Fellow at the Institute for Healthcare Improvement and former Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.  Other speakers will include Julian Harris, Director of the Office of Medicaid for Massachusetts, and John McDonough, Professor of Public Health at Harvard University.

Through the program, participants develop skills to lead change, manage conflict, communicate more effectively and tackle other leadership challenges they currently face or may face in their careers.
