Blues 4 Breast Cancer

West Dallas restaurant Babb Bros BBQ & Blues will host a Breast Cancer Awareness Month fundraising event on October 12, with proceeds benefitting the Center for Community Health (CCH) at UNT Health Science Center (UNTHSC).

The event, called “Blues 4 Breast Cancer,” begins at 3:30 p.m. and will feature music by the Tom Cat Blues Band, Zac Harmon Blues Band, Andrew Jr. Boy Jones Band featuring Kerrie Lepai, Texas Slim and the Babb Bros Blues Band.    There is no cover charge, and reservations are not required.

The CCH, part of UNTHSC’s Texas Prevention Institute, is involved in breast cancer prevention, research and educational programs targeting high-risk women in Dallas County.  Since its beginning in 2007 in South Dallas, the program has partnered with local members of the Dallas Cancer Disparities Community Coalition, reaching hundreds of women directly and thousands indirectly.  Funding for this program was made possible by Grant #PP110190 from the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT).

Funds raised from the Babb Bros blues event will assist with West Dallas outreach programs. The CCH is currently in partnership with the West Dallas Multipurpose Center, City of Dallas Environmental and Health Services Department, providing bilingual classes on healthy lifestyles and directing women to mammography screenings and diagnostic follow-up.

Babb Bros BBQ & Blues is located at 330 Bedford Avenue in Dallas. For more information, visit www.babbbrothers.com.
