North Texas SPH named to national CDC Consortium

Under the leadership of Thad Miller, MPH, DrPH, the School of Public Health at UNT Health Science Center (UNTHSC), Fort Worth, Texas, has been named as one of 10 national research sites for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)-sponsored Tuberculosis Epidemiologic Studies Consortium.
This 10-year, up to $5.3 million contract is focused on strengthening and coordinating tuberculosis (TB) research capacities of state and metropolitan TB control programs, participating laboratories, academic institutions, hospitals, and both non- and for-profit organizations. This opportunity represents only one of the projects UNTHSC will work on under contract with the CDC as a consortium member; other projects are in the early planning stages at this point.
The selection of the SPH for this award continues the work developed by Dr. Miller and other UNTHSC faculty during 10 years prior with the consortium.
Dr. Miller serves as assistant professor of Health Management and Policy in the UNTHSC School of Public Health and as assistant professor, Department of Internal Medicine, for the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine.
