Our custodial team strives to maintain clean, welcoming, and safe spaces for employees, students, and visitors while delivering exceptional customer service and high-quality work in support of our university’s mission to “create solutions for a healthier community”. How We Operate:
- Daily: Empty waste receptacles, dust mop and spot wet mop, hard floors floor surfaces, spot vacuum high traffic areas, classrooms/conference rooms, patient rooms, clean restrooms, clean elevators, clean entrances.
- Weekly: Wet mop and scrub hard floor surfaces, vacuum carpeted areas, clean chalkboards and markerboards, detail offices (dust, clean surfaces, and vacuum).
- Monthly: Scrub restroom walls and floors, dust high-use areas, buff floors, clean vents.
- Yearly: Interior window cleaning (once a year), exterior windows (twice a year).
- As needed: Spot clean carpet, strip and wax hard floor surfaces, shampoo carpets.
The custodial department accepts work orders. The turn-around time on work orders is as follows:
- General cleaning: 2 business days
- Carpet cleaning: 7 business days
- Strip and finish floors: 10 business days
- Emergencies (floods, mold/mildew, plumbing issue cleanup): within 24 hours
