UNTHSC named Military Friendly for fourth consecutive year

Military FriendlyOnce again, the UNT Health Science Center has been honored with the Military Friendly School designation. We’ve received this title each year since 2010 from Victory Media and G.I. Jobs, a magazine for military personnel transitioning into civilian life.

The Health Science Center will be included in the 2013 Guide to Military Friendly Schools, as well as in a list at http://www.militaryfriendlyschools.com/.

The 2013 Military Friendly Schools list honors the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools that are doing the most to embrace America’s military service members, veterans and spouses as students.

Since 1996, 80 Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine students have received military commissions upon graduation. Currently, at least 35 students are veterans, and more than 20 are in the military. Our faculty and staff include 68 veterans.

The 2013 list of Military Friendly Schools® was compiled through extensive research and a survey of more than 8,000 schools nationwide. The institutions honored prioritize the recruitment of students with military experience and offer scholarships and discounts, veterans’ clubs, full-time staff, military credit and other services to those who served.
