UNTHSC announces leadership appointments

The University of North Texas Health Science Center recently announced new appointments to its administrative staff.

Jennifer Treviño, MBA, has been appointed vice president of Administration and chief of staff. Trevino, who joined the Health Science Center in 2007, earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in marketing and management from Texas Tech University and a Master of Business Administration from Texas Christian University.

Stephen Barrett, MBA, is now vice president of Operations. Barrett came to UNTHSC in 1999 and has a Bachelor of Science in construction technology from Texas State University – San Marcos and a Master of Business Administration from Texas Christian University.

Michael Mueller, MBA, recently was named vice president for Finance and chief financial officer. He has a Bachelor of Business Administration in international business and economics from Sam Houston State University and a Master of Business Administration from Texas Christian University. Mueller joined UNTHSC in 2006.

Renee Drabier, PhD, MBA, has been named vice provost for Academic Affairs and Development. Drabier has a PhD in Distance Education and Educational Technology from Texas A&M University, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Texas at San Antonio, and a Bachelor of Arts in music education and music therapy from the University of Kansas. She has been with UNTHSC since 2008.

William LeMaistre, JD, MPH, is the Health Science Center’s new chief Compliance and Enterprise Risk Management officer. LeMaistre earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Texas School of Law, and a Master of Public Health from the University of Texas School of Public Health. He has a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Austin College. LeMaistre joined the UNT System in 1998.

David Mason, DO, recently was named chair of Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine for the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine. Mason comes to UNTHSC from the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey, School of Osteopathic Medicine (UMDNJ-SOM) at Stratford, N.J. He received his Bachelor of Science in biology from Rider University and his Doctor of Osteopathy from UMDNJ-SOM.

Dennis Thombs, PhD, MA, is the new chair of Social and Behavioral Sciences for the School of Public Health. Thombs holds a PhD in Health Education from the University of Maryland.  He received his Educational Specialist in community and mental health counseling; his Master of Arts in community and mental health counseling; and Bachelor of Arts in sociology from the University of South Florida. Thombs comes to UNTHSC from J. Hillis Miller Health Science Center at the University of Florida at Gainesville, Fla.
