UNT Health volunteers provide free child immunizations at back-to-school event

Volunteers from the UNT Health Science Center Department of Pediatrics will provide free childhood immunizations from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at The Morningside Middle School Extravaganza.

The back-to-school event will take place at the Morningside campus at 2751 Mississippi Ave. in Fort Worth. The community-wide event is open to the public.

All incoming 7th graders in Texas must have certain immunizations before beginning classes, including vaccinations to protect against tetanus, pertussis, and meningitis. The vaccine clinic on Saturday will provide convenient access to those protections for middle-school students who still haven’t received them.

In addition to providing immunizations, UNT Health Science Center medical and physician assistant students will operate five additional booths devoted to health education and health-related activities. UNT Health is one of several vendors providing services at the Morningside event. Family-friendly activities, including free food, bounce houses and free vision screenings, will be offered.

UNT Health, the clinical component of the UNT Health Science Center, is one of Tarrant County’s largest multi-specialty group practices, offering more than 220 specialty providers dedicated to creating solutions for a healthier community.
