TAFP honors UNTHSC for achievement
The Medical School Award of Achievement honors Texas medical schools that attain 25 percent of graduates entering family medicine residencies. TAFP established the award in 1993 to encourage Texas medical schools to increase the number of graduates entering family medicine residencies. UNTHSC is the only school in Texas to be recognized in 2008.
Citing the school’s strong dedication to primary care, TAFP Past President Linda Siy, M.D., accepted the award on behalf of Marc Hahn, D.O., senior vice president for health affairs and dean of the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, and Elizabeth Palmarozzi, D.O., chair of the Department of Family and Community Medicine, during TAFP’s 59th Annual Session and Scientific Assembly in Houston on July 19. Dr. Siy is an assistant professor in UNT HSC’s family medicine department.
