Physician Assistant Studies program re-accredited

The UNT Health Science Center Physician Assistant Program earned Accreditation-Continued status through 2021 from the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA).

Accreditation-Continued status is granted to currently accredited programs compliant with the ARC-PA standards. Established in 1997, the UNTHSC PA program is next scheduled to undergo validation review in September 2021.

Hank Lemke, PA-C, DHSc, Chair of Physician Assistant Studies, said everyone associated with the program worked hard for 18 months to achieve this status.

“This affirmation by a national organization of experts informs us we are teaching the right things and we are regularly doing the right things to make improvements in our educational processes,” Lemke said. “This accreditation qualifies our graduates to take the PA national certifying examination, which they must pass to become licensed as PAs by the state.”

U.S. News & World Report magazine has ranked the Physician Assistant Studies program among the top 35 graduate-level physician assistant programs in the U.S.
