PA students recognize Physician Assistant Week

Students in the UNT Health Science Center’s Physician Assistant (PA) Studies Program will recognize National PA Week, Oct. 6-12, with several events over the next couple of weeks.

Student PAs will meet with undergraduate students who are interested in the PA profession and the Health Science Center’s program at the UNT campus in Denton on Oct. 5 and at TCU on Oct. 6.

On Oct. 7, a panel including Sam Buchanan, DO, associate professor of PA Studies, Laurie Hill, PA-C, assistant professor of PA Studies and director of Clinical Education, and Lauren Dobbs, PA-C, Pediatrics instructor, will share their perspectives of the value of PAs to health care and the training needed to be a successful PA.  The panel discussion will follow breakfast for PA faculty, staff and students.

The PA students also will visit the Courtyards at Fort Worth and Wellington Oaks Nursing Home as part of their community outreach. The Health Science Center celebrates National PA Week  every year to support and recognize PAs and increase awareness of the PA profession.

The PA Studies Program at the UNT Health Science Center is one of the top 35 in the nation, as rated by U.S. News and World Report.
