October seminars highlight women’s health issues

The UNT Health Science Center’s FOR HER women’s health institute will host two educational seminars during October.

A lunch-and-learn session, sponsored by The Lalor Foundation, will be held Tuesday, Oct. 19, in the Health Science Center’s Medical Education and Training Building, to provide information about emergency contraception. Ralph Anderson, MD, chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology, will explain  emergency contraception; when it can be used; side effects; and safety measures. Students, faculty, staff and community members are welcome, and lunch will be provided to all attendees at no cost. To register, send a message to untobgyn@live.com.

The 22nd Annual Pelham P. Staples, Jr., MD, Educational Symposium, will be held Oct. 28 – 30 at the Sheraton Arlington Hotel and will explore new trends and controversies in women’s health care. Many nationally recognized experts will be presenting a variety of timely topics spanning the breadth of various obstetric and gynecologic topics. A special session on Saturday, Oct. 30, will address strategies for providers to prosper in the new reformed health care system. Physicians and nurses may receive up to 21.5 hours of continuing medical education credit. For more information or to register for the symposium, go to www.RegisterWithUNT.com.
