Jean Tips, Vice President of Marketing and Communications at UNTHSC, named one of the Great Women of Texas

Jean Tips, Vice President of Marketing and Communications at UNT Health Science Center, has been named one of the 2013 Great Women of Texas by the Fort Worth Business Press for her business, civic and social contributions to the Fort Worth area.

Tips, who has led marketing and communications efforts at the Health Science Center since 2005, received the honor during an awards presentation Wednesday at The Fort Worth Club.

Honorees are recognized not only for their business acumen, but also for their dedication to family and support for the community.

Tips is a board member of The Cowtown Marathon and helped establish the Dallas-Fort Worth chapter of Team Red, White and Blue, an organization that helps veterans readjust to civilian life through fitness activities.

She is a graduate of Leadership Fort Worth and a founding advisory committee member of the FitWorth Healthy City Initiative, an effort led by Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price to inspire a communitywide culture shift to improve health in the Fort Worth area.

Tips came to UNTHSC from Kaiser Permanente, where she was national director of communications in its Oakland, Calif., headquarters. Prior to that, she served in external and internal communications roles for Lucile Salter Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford.

At the Health Science Center, she oversees media relations, internal and external communications, publications, advertising, brand management, marketing collateral and web content.
