Ignatius Wins Arrowsmith Award at Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine Senior Awards Banquet

Jerry Ignatius, DO, won a plaque and $500 as this yearâ??s recipient of the Arrowsmith Award at the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicineâ??s senior awards banquet.

The Arrowsmith Award is presented annually to the student who exhibits the following traits: personal growth, both as an individual and as a future physician; endurance in the face of difficult obstacles (i.e. physical or emotional, educational or intellectual); persistence in the quest for discovery and trust; cognizance of human need and striving toward the attainment of a more humane viewpoint; dedication to professional competence; and commitment to making a contribution to osteopathic medicine.

Dr. Ignatius, a native of Sugar Land, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology and chemistry from Houston Baptist University and a doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from TCOM. He will complete his residency in internal medicine at University of Texas Medical School in Houston.

The banquet was held May 19 at the Fort Worth Club.
