15th annual Research Appreciation Day winners announced

The winners from the UNT Health Science Centerâ??s 15th annual Research Appreciation Day were announced at the end of the event on April 6.

  The Alcon Research Achievement Postdoctoral Fellow Poster Presentation Award went to Art Braden, PhD, research associate in molecular biology and immunology.

  The first place Alcon Research Achievement Oral Presentation Award went to Gulab Zode, a student in cell biology and genetics; second place went to Amber Ondricek, a student in cell biology and genetics.

  The first place Graduate Student Association Oral Presentation Award went to Rohini Dhar, a student in molecular biology and immunology; second place went to Sherry Sours-Brothers, a student in integrative pharmacology.

  The first place Graduate Student Association Poster Presentation Award for the morning session went to Nowland Bambard, a student in molecular biology and immunology; second place went to Devin Flaherty, a student in integrative physiology; and third place went to Navin Rauniyar, a student in molecular biology and immunology.

  The first place Graduate Student Association Poster Presentation Award for the afternoon session went to Subhamoy Dasgupta, a student in biomedical sciences; second place went to Vidhya Rao, a student in pharmacology and neuroscience; and third place went to Rusha Thomas, a student in molecular biology and immumology.

  The first place Public Health Student Association Oral Presentation Award went to Ana Luz Chiapa, a student in social and behavioral sciences; and second place went to Harrison Ndetan, a student in biostatistics.

  The first place Public Health Student Association Poster Presentation Award went to Julius Larry III, a student a student in health management and policy; and second place went to Lori Rodriguez, a student a student in epidemiology.

  Two honorable mentions for the School of Public Health were awarded to Matt Stahl, a student in biostatistics, and Andrea Lorden, a student in health management and policy.

  The first place Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine Poster Presentation Award went to Angela Brimhall, a student in family and community medicine; and second place went to Elisha Hatfield, a student in PA studies.

  The Professional and Continuing Education (PACE) Pre-doctoral Research Award was presented to Julius Larry III, a student in health management and policy. The PACE Post-doctoral Research Award was presented to Rubina Muzina, senior research assistant in internal medicine.

TECH Fort Worth sponsored an Innovation Award that went to Priya Muthu, a student in molecular biology and immunology.

  The North Texas Eye Research Institute Award went to John A. Fuller, a student in the cell biology and genetics.

  Research Appreciation Day is an institutional tradition encompassing medicine, public health and basic science. The program provides an opportunity for students, faculty and staff to share their research efforts with the campus community and the public.
