15 UNT Health physicians named as “Texas Super Docs”

Fifteen UNT Health physicians were chosen as â??Texas Super Docsâ? for the December 2006 edition of Texas Monthly.

More than 40,000 medical professionals were asked to nominate one or more doctors, other than themselves, for the list, based on the question, â??If you needed medical care, which doctor would you choose?â?

The list also includes Texas doctors who had achieved special recognition from their peers or had demonstrated other indications of expertise in their specialties, based on the replies received from polled physicians.

Those â??Texas Super Docsâ? listed in the publication include John Fling, M.D., allergist; Fred â??Rickâ? Schaller, DO, cardiology; Ralph Anderson, MD, obstetrics/gynecology; Douglas Tatum, MD, obstetrics/gynecology; Kathleen Crowley, MD, obstetrics/gynecology; Alan Podawiltz, DO, psychiatry; Bernard Rubin, DO, internal medicine; Sam Buchanan, DO (TCOM â??75), general surgery; David Lichtman, MD, orthopedic surgery; Russell Wagner, MD, orthopedic surgery; Martin Weiss, DO, cardiology; and Stephen Weis, DO, internal medicine.

Doctors chosen for the list but not appearing in the publication include Craig Spellman, PhD, DO (TCOM â??91), internal medicine; David Orr, DO (TCOM â??94), neurology; and Stephen Urban, DO, family practice.

UNT Health is the physician practice for the UNT Health Science Centerâ??s Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine. It is the largest multispecialty medical group in Fort Worth, made up of more than 150 physicians.
