Three HSC employees honored by National Academies of Practice
At a recent ceremony in Washing D.C., Dr. April Wiechmann and Dr. Kate Taylor were both inducted into the National Academies of Practice as Distinguished Fellows.
To be eligible to become a Distinguished Fellow, a nominee must have had an exemplary career of 10 years or more; shown a commitment to interprofessional practice and accessible, affordable health care for all; and made enduring contributions to their profession.
Both were nominated by President Sylvia Trent Adams and Jessica Rangel, executive vice president of Health Systems, both of whom are also Distinguished Fellows.
Cynthia Carrol, HSC’s director of Interprofessional Education and Practice, was also inducted as a Professional Member. To be eligible for that distinction, a nominee must take an interest in interdisciplinary health care issues, and have five or more years of experience contributing to their field.
“It’s both an honor and privilege to work with such esteemed colleagues who have demonstrated an exemplary career in interprofessional practice and continue to impact an improved patient and person experience because of their commitment,” Rangel said. “These colleagues are leading the way in how health care should be delivered in a collaborative manner and are preparing our future health care professionals to do the same. To be able to don the credentials of FNAP or PNAP is no small thing — rather, it is evidence of the expertise our colleagues bring to HSC every day. This was a day to celebrate, indeed.”
