HSC High School Art Show goes virtual this year

Since 1985, the HSC High School Art show has showcased young people’s work in media from photography to painting to computer art, and several in between.

The show, usually on view each spring in the EAD Atrium Gallery, is an annual tradition that draws 11th– and 12th-grade artists from Cooke, Denton, Erath, Hood, Parker, Tarrant, Palo Pinto, Somervell, Wise and Johnson counties.

This year the show is entirely virtual, with some 120 entries in spite of the challenges of social distancing and remote teaching and learning.

“Given how many teachers were unable to get to their classrooms, I am really proud of the response,” Atrium Gallery Curator Shea Patterson Young said. “I have gotten a lot of excitement from teachers and students.”

“I think these engagements are even more important now,” said Patterson Young. “It’s been a labor of love.”
