UNT Health Science Center faculty and students will have a prominent role this week at the annual meeting of the Texas Physical Therapy Association (TPTA).

Eleven faculty members and 10 students will make presentations or display research posters at the Fort Worth Convention Center.

The conference, which is held in a different Texas city each year, is expected to draw more than a 1,000 attendees.

“The TPTA mission is to advance physical therapist practice to optimize the movement, health, and wellness of people in Texas,” said Yasser Salem, PhD, PT, Professor and Interim Chairman of Physical Therapy. “We are excited the annual meeting is being held in Fort Worth this year.  It’s wonderful learning opportunity for our students, about 70 percent of whom are expected to attend.”

The conference focuses on moving the profession of physical therapy forward in a dynamic health care environment, according to the association. It will include a community service project “TPTA CARES” that is designed to allow exhibitors and attendees to share meaningful experiences. Attendees can also network with peers at a free Friday night social.
