Education & Experience:

I have received a BS in Pharmacy and a Master’s in Business Administration from Drake University.  I later received a Doctorate in Pharmacy at the University of Colorado College of Pharmacy, Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colorado.  Prior to my current position, I was an independent pharmacy entrepreneur finishing a 20-year franchisee contract with The Medicine Shoppe and then 5 years at a new location as Jen Care Pharmacy.  I am the President of Jen-Rx, Inc. in Johnson County, Texas.   I have been an adjunct professor through the P*Ceutics Institute where I assisted in teaching pharmacy calculations at the University of Oklahoma.  I have been involved with pharmacy technician education for more than 20 years and am a primary contributor to a textbook on pharmacy calculations for technicians.  I have served as a P4 APPE preceptor for Drake University, Creighton University, University of Colorado, and the University of Texas and have hosted experiential rotations in the areas of Community Pharmacy, Ambulatory Care Pharmacy, and Pharmacy Management.

Teaching Areas & Interests:

I have been primarily involved in the Community Pharmacy setting and my area of interest concerns the development of new and innovative services that pharmacists can provide to patients in this setting.  Advanced professional services that I have provided include specialty compounding, immunizations, lipid testing and education, A1C testing for diabetes screening and education, strep throat assessment and testing in the community pharmacy setting, and pharmacy technician education.

Professional Activities & Awards:

I am a member of numerous professional organizations including the American Pharmacists Association, the National Community Pharmacists Association, the Texas Pharmacy Association, and the Tarrant County Pharmacy Association. I have also recently been appointed to serve on the Texas Health and Human Services Commission, Drug Utilization Review Board in Austin, Texas.

Scholarly Interests:

My interests lie in developing new and innovative services that Community Pharmacists can provide to their customers and teaching both students and established pharmacists how to integrate these services into an advanced practice model.  In addition to the development of services, my other area of interest is the legislative arena where rules, regulations, and infrastructure that open up new possibilities for pharmacists to expand their service mix beyond dispensing must be established.
