Welcome to the University of North Texas Health Science at Fort Worth Office for Professional and Continuing Education. Our mission is to expertly plan lifelong learning and continuing education activities to meet the needs of medical professionals and researchers, the public health workforce and others who promote health and safety. Our activities are designed to provide the most recent information and strategies to facilitate health promotion, disease prevention and/or encourage understanding of public health issues on local, regional and nationwide levels.

	Reducing the Risk of Pneumococcal Infection in Cancer Patients In patients being treated for cancer, a bacterial infection caused by Streptococcus pneumonia can cause a significant morbidity, prolonged hospitalization and increase mortality. The goal of this activity is to equip health care professionals with information related to current vaccination and patient assessment recommendations to facilitate vaccination status ascertainment and patient education. 	Fibromyalgia Diagnosis & Treatment: Persistent Barriers to Better Patient Care The University of North Texas Health Science Center (UNTHSC) - in cooperation with the Interstate Postgraduate Medical Association (IPMA), the CME Institute of Physicians Postgraduate Press, AXDEV Group, the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP) and the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) - has planned a variety of educational activities to minimize barriers related to fibromyalgia diagnosis and management, with the goal of improving the care received by patients. 	Primary Care Clinical Challenges in Bipolar Disorder Bipolar disorder is a serious and complicated condition that has the potential to cause lifelong disability. The goal of this CME activity is to assist primary care physicians in developing a maintenance treatment plan to prevent relapse and reduce sub-threshold symptoms and suicide risk.
