Program Overview

MISSION: To improve the health and well-being of women, mothers, fathers and infants so that every child in our community has the opportunity to grow and thrive.

UNTHSC Healthy Start is funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration to provide services to improve women’s and family’s health before, during and after pregnancy, and support families in caring for their infants through the first two years of their life.

Clients referred to Healthy Start receive in-home case management services and will be linked to other community resources as needed. Services offered are based on eligibility, needs and the unique situations of each family to build family resiliency. Healthy Start focuses on the 4Ps: Preconception, Pregnancy, Postpartum, and Parenting.

The Wellness Center offers wellness classes for clients and the community, as well as trainings and courses for professionals.
