Anatomy Travel Award Program

Program Description

Starting in Fall 2017, CAS is pleased to begin offering a limited number of travel awards to support student travel to academic meetings, conferences, and workshops.

Eligibility Requirements:

To be eligible for an Anatomy Travel Award, you must be a current student in good standing at UNTHSC at the time of travel. The academic conference or workshop must be related to the anatomical sciences, including but not limited to: anatomy education; clinical anatomy; and the morphological sciences, including physical anthropology, comparative anatomy, and evolutionary biology. Your travel award application must be sponsored by a faculty mentor from the Center for Anatomical Sciences. Preference will be given to students who are first-time awardees and/or are actively participating in the conference through a podium or poster presentation. Anatomy Travel Awards are limited to one per student per fiscal year1.

Effective Spring 2023, all travel awards applicants will be required to participate in at least one CAS signature outreach event in order to be eligible for an Anatomy Travel Award. Participation in additional outreach is encouraged, and students may be eligible for travel funds beyond the baseline award (see Award Administration, below) through this participation.

Submission and Deadline

Anatomy Travel Awards will be awarded on a rolling basis. Students are encouraged to apply early to have the best chance of having the travel award funded. Applications can be submitted to Dr. Menegaz via email rachel.menegaz@unthsc.edu.

Award Administration

Awards of up to $500 will be issued as a reimbursement of eligible expenses after travel has been completed. Acceptable uses for travel grant funds include: airfare/train/bus/car travel, lodging expenses, and conference registration fees. Appropriate receipts will be required.
