CBTS faculty members highlighted on Top 2% of Scientists List

Dimitrios Karamichos

Eight faculty members from the College of Biomedical and Translational Sciences at The University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth are among the top 2% of scientists in the world according to a new list from Stanford University and Elsevier.

The rankings are based on citation data and use standardized metrics such as h-index and other bibliometric indicators to show career and recent-year impact.

“This list highlights a stellar group of scientists at the College of Biomedical and Translational Sciences and illustrates the impact that they are making across a broad range of scientific fields,” said Dr. Dimitrios Karamichos, interim dean of CBTS.

“Their inclusion on this list is a testament to the efforts of the entire CBTS team to train the next generation of scientists to take on health challenges through scientific discovery.

The rankings also categorize researchers into 22 scientific fields and 174 sub-fields, using established classifications and data from Scopus, a comprehensive database of peer-reviewed literature. In the latest edition, scientists’ career-long data has been updated through 2022.

The CBTS faculty members highlighted for career impact, recent-year impact, or both include:

  • Abe Clark, PhD, Regents Professor of Pharmacology and Neuroscience
