HSC mourns TCOM student Makasha Colonvega

Colonvega would have graduated in May from the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine with the Class of 2009.  She was a top performing student and will be missed by her classmates and her UNT Health Science Center family.

She would have had a brilliant career ahead of her,” said Dr. Bruce Dubin, vice dean for Academic Affairs for the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine at the University of North Texas Health Science Center.  “She was serious about her studies, but always personable.  Basically she was a young woman with her whole life and a wonderful future ahead of her.”

She was well respected by her classmates and instructors at the college.  Donations for the family are being accepted by the UNT Health Science Center Foundation https://www.hsc.unt.edu/applications/paygate/Give.cfm . Note “Other: Colonvega” on the donation form and/or check.

“This is going to be devastating for the students – both in her class and at the other classes in the medical school,” Dubin  said. “We’re involved in each others’ lives, and this is a real tragedy.”
