UNT Health Science Center webcasts “Our World, Our Community: Building Bridges for Health Equality”

The Center for Community Health, the Texas Center for Health Disparities and the Texas Public Health Training Center are pleased to sponsor a free live webcast from the 30th Annual Minority Health Conference on the University of North Carolina campus at 1 pm on Feb. 27 in the Mini-Auditorium in the Gibson Lewis Library on the Health Science Center campus.

The keynote speaker is Dr. Barbara C. Wallace, speaking on "Our World, Our Community: Building Bridges for Health Equality."

"We live interdependently within a global community, in which what affects one affects all. ‘Building bridges’ is, therefore, vital to achieving health equality," Dr. Wallace stated in her lecture’s abstract. "These relationships and other practical, tangible steps are the appropriate response to the call for a global civil rights and social justice movement to bring about health for all."

Dr. Wallace is a professor of health education at Teachers College: Columbia University and specializes in health disparity research, diversity training for multicultural competence, among other topics .

An informal discussion led by Dr. Nuha Lackan, assistant professor of health management and policy at the Health Science Center, will follow the webcast.
