TCOM earns top COMLEX scores for second consecutive year

Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine (TCOM) alumni currently completing residencies earned the highest average score in the nation on the Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Examination (COMLEX) Level 3. The National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners released COMLEX scores this week. This is the second consecutive year that TCOM has been the top performer in the nation on all three levels of this board exam.

The TCOM residents performed best in the nation for all osteopathic medical schools with an average score of 576.5. A score of 350 is required to pass the exam. The TCOM residents had a pass rate of 97.9. TCOM students have also scored the best in the nation on COMLEX Level 1 and 2 for three years in a row.

The three-part COMLEX series examination, the licensing exam for the osteopathic profession, is taken at the end of the second year of medical school, the fourth year of medical school and during residency, usually during the first or second year. The M.D. equivalent is the United States Medical License Examination (USMLE).
