Pediatrician honored for leadership role in mobile clinic

A Fort Worth newspaper has recognized Christina Robinson, MD, for her leadership role in UNT Health Science Center’s effort to provide health care directly to children in Fort Worth’s most underserved neighborhoods.

The Fort Worth Business Press named the pediatrician to its annual “40 Under 40” list, intended to recognize people “destined for striking accomplishments in their chosen field.”

Dr. Robinson, Assistant Professor of Pediatrics, is the medical director of UNTHSC’s new Pediatric Mobile Clinic. The 40-foot RV is a doctor’s office on wheels that provides high-quality health care at no cost to families.

It’s the first of its kind in Fort Worth, which was the nation’s largest city without a mobile unit designated for pediatric patients. The clinic offers wellness visits, physicals, checkups, immunizations, screening, laboratory testing and education in nutrition, physical activity and dental health.

Dr. Robinson graduated from Dunbar High School and grew up in Stop Six, one of the communities that will be served by the mobile clinic. She said she feels privileged to return to her neighborhood as a physician.

“It’s exciting for me to go back to my hometown community,” she said. “Our team is honored to be able to serve our city – and do something that’s rewarding for us as well.”
