HSC’s MHA online program ranked as one of the best in Texas by EduMed.org

Sph Mha Img 3634[4]EduMed, a leader in supporting students’ pursuits of online or hybrid education in the health professions, nursing and medical fields, has named the School of Public Health at The University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth’s online MHA program as one of the best in Texas.

Since 2019, EduMed has released annual rankings highlighting the year’s top programs based on a combination of factors, including affordability, accessibility and commitment to student success.

EduMed.org connects students with expert-driven information about education, training and financial aid opportunities in health care and medical support – through the best and most affordable online degree programs in more than 60 medical and health-related fields.

Guidebooks and student-focused resources from EduMed have been utilized by colleges and universities like Harvard, Cornell, Penn State, University of Florida, University of Virginia, University of Arizona, Vanderbilt and others. They have also appeared on the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs website and various state government websites.

“In today’s fast-paced, multi-task world, flexibility is a must,” EduMed noted in its 2023-24 academic year rankings. “Online and blended programs make it easier for working adults to get the education they need while balancing a family and a 9-to-5.”

HSC’s Master of Health Administration program is designed to help students grow as leaders affecting meaningful change to impact health systems and outcomes, and to advance the health of communities. Created for working professionals, HSC’s MHA online program helps students advance their training while boosting their career trajectory. This part-time, online option allows students with at least two years of health care experience to balance education, career and life’s demands.

“The health care industry is thriving, both in Texas and throughout the nation, and it’s expected to stay that way for the foreseeable future,” EduMed noted. “So, if you’ve ever considered a career in health care leadership, now is the time to make your move by earning your master’s degree in healthcare administration. An MHA is one of the most popular and highly regarded paths to qualify for advanced managerial roles in the medical field, and many accredited Texas colleges offer this graduate degree. This guide spotlights today’s best on-campus and online MHA programs in Texas to help (students) find a high quality, affordable program (they) can feel confident about.”

100% of HSC’s MHA students are employed or continue their education in the field following graduation. HSC graduates excel in various professional roles that include administrative fellow, project manager, implementation lead, consultant, operations coordinator, analyst (quality, financial, other) and more.

“Given that the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts a 28% growth rate in health care leadership roles by the year 2031, new opportunities will abound,” said Dr. Charles Taylor, HSC provost and executive vice president. “Health professionals can gain extra leverage to further their career with the training and experience that our MHA provides.”

HSC’s MHA program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME). HSC offers private university class sizes at a public university tuition rate and is the most affordable CAHME-accredited institution in Texas.

“We are pleased to be selected by EduMed as one of the top online MHA programs in Texas, and this ranking reaffirms our mission as a socially accountable, community-centered and globally relevant School of Public Health dedicated to the prevention of disease and harm, elimination of health disparities and the promotion of health and equity at home and around the world,” said Dr. Shafik Dharamsi, SPH Dean.

“We are focused on transforming lives and communities through health care leadership, education and scholarship, and our online MHA program is one of the ways we help students prepare to lead the public health and health care workforce of the future.”

In addition to HSC’s curriculum, the School of Public Health places a strong emphasis on providing students with real-world learning opportunities and practice experience within health organizations and related agencies, Dharamsi noted.
