Canvas Clinic #13: Communication Tools in Canvas

Canvas has many options available to communication. Instructors can personalize their messages by posting audio and video feedback/messages. We will review and discover various ways to communicate effectively in Canvas.

When planning your interactions with students, keep in mind that they generally have to log in to Canvas already, so for most students that is the most convenient and intuitive place to receive communications from you.  Students also are accustomed to having instructors who communicate almost exclusively through Canvas.  While other forms of communication have their time and place, be mindful that they may differ significantly from student expectations, so communicate how your course is different very clearly and help students with reminders.

Delivering effective feedback can be a challenge for most educators.  There are so many assignments to grade, and only so much time for each one.  Work smarter, not harder!  These tools were designed for a reason. Taking a few minutes to learn how to use them can save you hours in the long run and make interacting with students pleasant and rewarding for you.

Lunch is provided to registrants and begins at 11:45!
