WHY DID YOU CHOOSE UNT Health COLLEGE OF PUBLIC HEALTH?
I chose UNTHSC because I really connect with their focus on improving health in underserved and rural communities. As someone from a rural island, that message really resonated with me. Public health is something I’ve always been passionate about, especially disease prevention and making sure people have access to resources no matter where they live. Plus, I’ve heard great things about the faculty and the collaborative environment, which made it feel like the right place for me.

HOW DO YOU PLAN ON APPLYING THE KNOWLEDGE YOU GAIN TO YOUR FUTURE CAREER?
Growing up and studying in Hawai‘i, I saw firsthand how geography and limited resources can affect people’s access to care. I plan to use what I learn in this program to develop public health strategies that close those gaps, whether through disease prevention programs, community outreach, or policy work. My goal is to take these skills into roles where I can turn data and research into real change for communities that need it most.
