Rt Award 1 2Rucha Trivedi, a PhD candidate in the College of Biomedical and Translational Sciences at UNT Health Fort Worth, was awarded a national honor by the American Association of Indian Scientists in Cancer Research (AAISCR). Trivedi received the Young Investigator Award at the 2025 American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) Annual Meeting in Chicago, recognizing her abstract and poster focused on triple-negative breast cancer.

Her research, conducted under the mentorship of Dr. Jamboor Vishwanatha, explores how Annexin A2-enriched extracellular vesicles (EVs) released by tumor cells influence the lung microenvironment to facilitate metastatic colonization. The study offers new insights into the biological mechanisms that enable aggressive breast cancers to spread and may help uncover future therapeutic targets.

“It’s been an honor to represent UNT Health and to have my research recognized on a national platform. I’m truly grateful to my mentor, Dr. Vishwanatha, our lab team, and the UNT Health community for their unwavering support,” said Trivedi.

“This award is a meaningful milestone in my journey as a scientist, and I’m proud to share it with those who shaped my path. It’s incredibly rewarding to see our work make an impact beyond the lab.”

In addition to receiving the award, Rucha was invited to deliver a podium presentation at the AAISCR Annual Meeting in May 2025, where she presented highlights of her research.
