Faculty Achievement Award nominations are due by January 31, 2023. Please send your nominations to Rhonda.Arthur@unthsc.edu.
Nominations will be accepted by faculty who do not hold an administrative appointment (e.g., department chair, institute director, dean). Letters of support by faculty who hold administrative appointments may be included as an attachment to nominations submitted by non-administrative faculty and will be considered by the committee during the review and selection process.
Please note due to inclement weather, today’s Lunch & Learn event hosted by the Office of Care and Civility and HSC Police Department will be RESCHEDULED to a later date. We will provide more information when we have determined the date/time.
Thank you for your understanding. Please stay safe and warm.
Mother Nature is determined to remind us it’s still winter in Texas!
Due to inclement weather, our campus will be closed for all in-person work and student events on Tuesday, January 31st.
HSC team members who have the ability to work remotely should do so today.
If your job is not conducive to working remote, please contact your supervisor as you will need to use “emergency leave related to weather” on your timesheet. This will be coded as “WCEMG–Leave–Weather Closure–EMG” and the hours should reflect your actual scheduled hours you were expected to work today.
Students should contact your professor(s) and/or follow guidance provided by your respective program regarding classes.
The Gibson D. Lewis Library will remain accessible to those with an HSC ID badge. Library resources and services are available 24×7 through the website.
Your safety is always our primary priority! Please stay warm and be careful as we get through this cold snap.

About the grant
The Preclinical Imaging Facility (PCIF) pilot grant awards are intended to facilitate the collection of preliminary imaging data: CT, PET, SPECT, and MRI images.
The PCIF pilot grants program is an internal funding mechanism designed to:

(2) support the addition of imaging data for current projects, and
(3) encourage use of PCIF resources and stimulate research collaborations.
Faculty who receive support through this program are expected to collect preliminary data to submit a research proposal for extramural funding. Faculty can submit only one application per funding cycle.
More details:
Grant awards will range between $2,000 – $5,000. Award amounts are contingent on the number of applications received this cycle.
Duration of the funding will be through the end of the current fiscal year (no carryovers are permitted)

Letter of Intent due March 10, 2023
The Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF) is pleased to announce a Request for Team Science Applications for PCF Challenge Awards for investigations of metastatic, lethal prostate cancer. These awards will be funded depending on the level of innovation in applications received. PCF seeks high-risk, currently unfunded projects from academic institutions around the world. We especially encourage applications on prostate cancer disparity research that will help to define the origins of differential outcome for prostate cancer patients in men of under-represented populations, including those focusing on biology or healthcare access policy.
For additional information please visit the REAP webpage. Please contact Meredith Fogleman or Zoe Metcalf if interested in submitting a Letter of Intent.
