SIMS Group Takes First Place

Congratulations to the Student Initiative in Medical Simulation (SIMS) student interest group team of Reese Allen, Michael Baillio, Colin Bumann, Tavisty Tarkenton, and Brooke Beck for taking FIRST PLACE at the annual meeting and Simulation Team competition of the Texas College of Emergency Physicians (TCEP) this past weekend. Another SIMS Team of Stormy Weiss, Bianca Arechiga, Justin Richardson, Cassie Robertson, and Gabe Cecenas made it to the semifinals. Kate Phillips, who competed on the team last year, was a major planner for the event and wrote case scenarios used in the competition. The competition focuses on how well a team performs in a simulated scenario that might take place in an Emergency Room setting. Each team is judged on medical knowledge as well as how they function as a team. This is the second year these students have competed at TCEP and their practicing and dedication this past year helped them improve on last year’s second place finish. An absolutely wonderful representation of UNTHSC and TCOM! Well Done!
