You shouldn’t need a law degree to start the small business of your dreams. But too often, entrepreneurs struggle with local regulatory burdens, finding themselves trapped by high fees, long wait times, and complex paperwork. Jennifer McDonald from the Institute for Justice will present the findings of her organization’s report on Fort Worth’s licensing and permitting process, including practical and achievable recommendations on making it cheaper, faster, and simpler for entrepreneurs to start a business.

https://www.eventbrite.com/e/451828690777
The Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) provides early-stage funding for small businesses to develop new innovation in spaces like education, medicine, agriculture, defense and energy. Historically, this program has been under-utilized by entrepreneurs in Tarrant County. Attend this session to learn more about SBIR funding and to discuss with us how to increase participation across our region.
1:00pm-2:00pm – RobMakesPods Productions: Telling Your Story: How to Book Media Interviews and Ace Them
https://www.eventbrite.com/e/telling-your-story-how-to-book-media-interviews-and-ace-them-tickets-441580237377
As evidenced by the rise in shows like Shark Tank and How I Built This, an entrepreneur’s story matters. Many entrepreneurs, however, are so focused on their businesses that they do not take the time to promote themselves in the media. In this session, freelance podcast producer Rob Upchurch (Innovate Fort Worth; Good Morning, HR) teaches entrepreneurs why they should make media appearances, how to get booked on podcasts and other media, and how to improve their performance in media interviews.
2:15pm – 3:15pm – Innovate Fort Worth with Cam Sadler
https://www.eventbrite.com/e/live-innovate-fort-worth-with-cam-sadler-founder-of-newcraft-hq-tickets-451817015857
Hear an update about Cam Sadler’s company, NewCraft HQ, and what he is doing now and plans to do next!
Cam Sadler was a teacher at Dunbar High School with big ideas. One summer break, he cashed in his retirement savings and started a company that helps job seekers get offers from tech businesses. Soon he was in Silicon Valley, the first Fort Worth entrepreneur accepted into Y Combinator, the startup funder of AirBnb and DropBox.

Innovation is changing Fort Worth. Start-ups and a spirit of entrepreneurship are transforming the city known for Cowboys and Culture into a hub for innovative ideas and businesses. Innovate Fort Worth shares the stories of the city’s leading innovators, entrepreneurs, and investors — and highlights the resources available to bring ideas to market.
